A new book by Mark K. Updegrove, shows where George H.W. Bush stands when it comes to Trump and it's not favorable. "And I'm not too excited about him being a leader".
His son, George W. Bush, who assumed the presidency just over a decade after his father, had similar feelings about Trump.
He also told the author of the book, Mark Updegrove, that he felt Mr Trump ran for the presidency because he had "a certain ego", in remarks reported by U.S. media outlets including CNN and the New York Times.
Both former presidents have candidly voiced concerns about Trump's leadership ability. Donald Trump's election marked the end not only to the Bushes' hold on the White House, but of a rejection of the Republican principles of civility and global engagement and leadership that the Bushes have long championed.
Trump, who doesn't like them either and shares a complicated relationship with all the living former presidents, will have something to say about it soon enough, given how he prides in his ability to counter-punch.

Updegrove said the book title came from a comment made by the younger Bush previous year. He indicated that a president should not "exploit the anger, incite it" but rather "come up with ideas to deal with it".
The two men disputed Shakespearean assumptions about father-son rivalries and insisted they remained close throughout the younger Bush's presidency, despite suspicions about a rift over the Iraq War.
