AMD Delivers Semi-Custom Graphics Chip For New Intel Processor

  • Intel introduces a new product in the 8th Gen Intel Core processor family that combines high-perform

Nvidia holds almost 80% of the market for stand-alone graphics chips by revenue, in direct competition with AMD, and competes with Intel on artificial intelligence chips for large corporations, the Wall Street Journal noted. The chip would be powerful enough to run high-end video games on a thin and lightweight notebook PC, they said.

Chip rivals AMD and Intel today unveiled a partnership that will take on fellow chip maker Nvidia in high-performance graphics. The collaboration is a showcase for some new Intel tech that allows for smaller, more power-efficient chips.

The goal, Intel explains, is to deliver the power that discrete graphics offer, but in a thinner package.

Twenty-First Century Fox And Walt Disney Said To Be In Talks
So it would definitely be interesting to see how a more-focused-on sports Fox would do, and how investors would react. The company could not own two broadcast networks and would therefore not buy the Fox broadcast network.

The partnership between AMD and Intel looks to break this trend, while allowing for gaming laptops to be ultrabook thin; so far only the Razer Blade can be seen as a slim gaming laptop.

It's a huge announcement, in part due to the long, bitter history between AMD and Intel. However, it seems Intel are targeting a higher performance bracket than AMD are with Raven Ridge, looking instead to replace their reliance on Nvidia discrete GPUs for performance mobile graphics.

So this new initiative, which is yet another part of what Intel is calling its 8th generation Core processor family, combines a high-performance H-series Core processor with second-generation High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2) and a custom AMD Radeon discrete graphics chip, all in a single processor package.

Spain issues global arrest warrant for ex-Catalan leader
The other four people named in warrants are Toni Comin, Clara Ponsati, Lluis Puig and Meritxell Serret. Parties that wish to stand together in a coalition in the polls must announce this by November 7.

"Together we are offering gamers and content creators the opportunity to have a thinner-and-lighter PC capable of delivering discrete performance-tier graphics experiences in AAA games and content creation applications", said Scott Herkelman, vice president and general manager of AMD Radeon Technologies Group, in a press release.

Intel also points out that this is the first consumer product that has EMIB. Tieing it all together is Intel's custom software driver package which not only helps to coordinate communications for the three pieces of the hardware puzzle on-package, but also regulates temperatures and power delivery in real time. Nevertheless, Intel did pointed out that the new processor is combination of Intel Core H-series CPU together with a semi-custom AMD Radeon GPU. It says the Intel chips are designed for intensive gamers where the Ryzen chips can handle games but aren't specifically designed for that objective. This partnership gets more AMD GPUs out there, although it remains to be seen how well AMD's custom-made effort will stack up to the advancements NVIDIA has made in mobile gaming.
