  • The Saints have relied on defense to win five consecutive games. The Buccaneers season is spiraling downward with four straight losses

Mike Evans has been suspended without pay for one game for violations of unsportsmanlike conduct for his hit on Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. As Lattimore walked back to the huddle he exchanged words with quarterback Jameis Winston, who was nursing a shoulder injury on the sideline.

Evans was not ejected for the play, but did receive a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for the hit.

The Saints lead the Buccaneers 30-3 in the third quarter.

Evans was held to one catch for 13 yards on six targets Sunday, with Lattimore as part of the Saints' coverage of him.

US Army's Bergdahl spared prison time for deserting
He was brought home by the Obama administration in May 2014 in a controversial exchange for five Guantanamo Bay detainees. He had faced up to life in prison after pleading guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.

Evans most definitely should have been ejected in the game for his actions.

Mike Evans will be suspended for Week 10 after shoving New Orleans defensive back Marshon Lattimore from behind.

Evans then came from out of nowhere and leveled Lattimore.

"I really don't know what happened on that", Buccaneers coach Dirk Koetter said. "I thought [Lattimore] was picking a fight with my quarterback".

"I get it. They're frustrated", Lattimore said. "I should have just shoved him away to try to break it up".

"My first instinct was to go help my teammate, even though I've been knowing [Evans] since Texas A&M days", said Saints CB De'Vante Harris, who knocked Evans off Lattimore. "But I reacted too quick".

"I want to play".
