  • Chiefs Sign CB Darrelle Revis

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Wednesday that the club has signed free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Revis, 32, a seven-time Pro Bowler, has not played this season after spending the last two years in his second stint with the New York Jets.

When Draymond Green was called for a foul shortly after that, the two really started jawing at each other. Then they play the Kings on Monday before starting a six-game road trip in Los Angeles next week.

A source close to the deal told NFL Insider Ian Rapport that Revis agreed to a two-year deal that will pay him the league minimum.

Revis (5-11, 198) has played in 140 games (140 starts) in 10 National Football League seasons with the New York Jets (2007-12, 2015-16), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2013) and New England Patriots (2014). The Chiefs will line up Revis opposite of Marcus Peters - presumably - in the hopes to strengthen their pass defense. His career numbers include 485 tackles (401 solo), 2.0 sacks, 137 passes defensed, 29 interceptions, six forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries.

Revis indeed brings experience with the Chiefs defensive scheme. Reid said Revis is "ready to go now" and "looks great physically" while Revis said he has some "water weight" he expects to shed easily once he's on the field. "It's just a matter of getting him back in the swing of things". He said he envisions Revis as a starter when he does get up to full speed and the Chiefs are hopeful that his full speed is close enough to his best days that their defense takes a step forward for the stretch run. He then played one year each for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots, with whom he won a Super Bowl, before returning to the Jets in 2015.
