The army and local police who were summoned to the scene killed all the attackers, who arrived at the Agricultural Training Institute on Friday by rickshaw, the military's press wing said. At least 37 people were injured in total, sources said.

Senior police official Sajjad Khan said that five attackers were spotted wearing suicide jackets.

An eyewitness said he and his colleagues were sleeping when the firing started Geo News reported.

According to Hayatabad Medical Complex Director Shahzad Akbar, six dead and 18 injured were brought to the hospital.

Three burqa-clad gun men have also entered the Directorate as intermittent gunfire, and blast heard from inside the premises.

ISPR said eight students were safely evacuated from the directorate of the university.
