  • Report: Ravens CB Jimmy Smith Suspended Four Games for PED Violation

Smith reportedly knew of his suspension last week and was planning to appeal, but will withdraw that appeal and serve the suspension while he is out for the year with an injury.

Smith was having the best season of his career, notching three interceptions and nine pass breakups while constantly covering the opponent's top wide receiver.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has confirmed that Smith tore his Achilles tendon during their 44-20 win over the Detroit Lions this past Sunday and he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Bryan Singer Fired From His Role As Director On Queen Biopic
One source told THR that Singer claims to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, due to on-set tensions. Rami Malek is starring as the legendary frontman Freddie Mercury in the movie that had been filming in London.

The Ravens are expected to place Smith on injured reserve this week.

The suspension will ultimately cost him $182,352, which would've been $2 million if had not just restructured his deal with Baltimore in August.

According to Schefter, Smith made a decision to drop his appeal of his suspension after tearing his Achilles' tendon in the second quarter of Sunday's win.

Russian Olympic Team Banned From 2018 Games
Mutko, who was sports minister at the time of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, remains head of the 2018 World Cup organizing committee. It wants the scientist extradited from the United States, where he is a protected witness.

It's a pragmatic decision, since he suffered a torn Achilles yesterday and was done for the rest of the season anyway.

Smith's injury tainted an otherwise impressive afternoon for the Ravens (7-5), who played their most complete game of the year. Second-year running back Kenneth Dixon was suspended for the first four games of the season, but suffered a season-ending meniscus injury before the season began.

On the season, the Ravens rank third in total passing yardage allowed and eighth in yards per attempt. The first round pick out of Alabama has played really well all season, but we got a glimpse of what could be after Smith went down.
