He took over a program that had gone 4-8 the year prior, ending that season with a 10-point loss to Oregon State in the annual Civil War game.

The University of Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens announced on Tuesday that head football coach Willie Taggart has accepted the position of head football coach at Florida State University.

ESPN reported just before 1 p.m. that Taggart confirmed the move to their reporters directly.

However, to many Florida State fans, this may seem like a questionable hire.

Taggart spent just one season at OR following his tenure locally at the University of South Florida.

As the ink is still drying on Jimbo Fisher's monster 10-year, $75 million contract with Texas A&M, his previous school found his replacement in Tallahassee.

Taggart then made his return to Western Kentucky in 2010 when he was hired as their head coach.

With Taggart now on board, Florida State can fully focus their attention on the Independence Bowl against Southern Mississippi on Saturday December 30th. From there, the Ducks lost four of their next five after an injury to starting quarterback Justin Herbert. He arrived in Eugene after four years at South Florida, where he guided the Bulls from a 2-10 record his first year to a 10-2 mark last year and a spot in the Birmingham Bowl.

His record was an impressive 25-9 his past three seasons of coaching, and he earned his teams three consecutive bowl berths.
