  • The pair are discussing a story idea with plans to assemble a writers room

The 54-year-old Oscar-winner is interested in directing the next Star Trek movie and even has "a great idea" according to a Monday report from Deadline. Tarantino and J.J. Abrams have a pitch for a new Star Trek film, according to both Paramount and Variety.

Sharing it with Abrams, who is currently busy working on the ninth instalment of Star Wars, it's thought they are now assembling a writers' room to develop the script.

Turning A Classic Episode Into A Movie?

In the case of Tarantino, however, it's hard to think of a writer-director with more of a specific, honed sensibility.

But Tarantino has worked on projects associated with existing franchises in the past, though that's been limited to television. And he's shared that idea with fellow director J.J. Abrams (currently working on "Star Wars: Episode IX"). You could take some of the great classic Star Trek episodes and just easily expand them to 90 minutes or more and really do some incredible, fantastic stuff.

Aaron Boone to be named next manager of Yankees
He's been around the game his whole life, so even if it is his first managing, he's not some unknown just waltzing into NY . Boone's father has worked for the Washington Nationals since December 2004 and now is an assistant general manager.

Folloing the release of Star Trek Beyond in 2016, Paramount announced plans for a fourth film focusing on Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and his deceased father (Chris Hemsworth).

In a move few would have predicted, Quentin Tarantino is to boldly go where he has never gone before and make a Star Trek movie. This means that the next Star Trek film might require a new source of funding before it could be greenlit.

GM's Self-Driving Cars to Be Ready for Ride-Sharing in 2019
GM says operating its self-driving cars will cost 40 percent less per mile than other ride-hailing firms that have to pay drivers. An employee in the back will be able to stop the vehicle by pushing a button but won't be able to steer the vehicle.

It's not Tarantino's first time taking on the reins of an existing franchise as he has previously directed episodes of CSI and ER, and has expressed interest in taking on a James Bond movie.
