Penn State holds off Washington to win Fiesta Bowl

  • Penn State's Saquon Barkley heads for NFL

Heading into the fourth quarter, Penn State led Washington 35-21.

Fans of the Blue & White traveled to Arizona, from far and wide, to support Penn State Football as they take on Washington in the Fiesta Bowl. Browning on the other hand is no slouch, passing for 2,544 yards, 18 touchdowns, five interceptions. For Washington, this will be their first trip to the Fiesta Bowl, but Huskies head coach Chris Petersen is no stranger to the game.

After it kicked off, Trace McSorley probably said something like 'LOL, not so fast.' The Nittany Lions converted 13 of 17 third-down attempts, and McSorley completed all 12 of his passes in those situations.

Former Royals closer Wade Davis off to Colorado Rockies
Holland made $15 million this year, but he did not exercise the $15 million player option after the 2017 season. Friday's agreement totals $52m over three years and reportedly includes a fourth-year vesting option at $14m.

Penn State wants to cap another strong season, this time with a bowl victory, while Washington wants to prove that last season's playoff team was no fluke. The Huskies enter as the fifth best team in total defense (tops in the Pac-12), allowing just 277 yards per game. Also, each team is a near mirror-image in terms of offensive skill players and shut-down defense. The Nittany Lions put up 453 yards per game, and are one of the best at putting points on the board. The game was memorable for Petersen's collection of trick plays, which led to a huge upset and an on-field marriage proposal for one of his players.

Penn State could wonder what might have been in the CFP, but a Fiesta Bowl is a nice way to close out the season. Saquon Barkley is projected to be a star in the National Football League, and will likely be one of the first players to hear his name at the draft next year. A running back who can make explosive plays.

With the win Penn State (11-2) wrapped up its second consecutive 11-win season, the first time the program has accomplished this since the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Trump lashes out at Vanity Fair for backtracking on Hillary Clinton video
This wasn't a Hillary hit piece either, for what it's worth! "We made silly new years resolutions for a bunch of politicians". Carter seemed to take the ridicule in stride.

Penn State doesn't have to sack Browning a bunch to be effective, but it must get in his face, knock him down when possible and give him something to think about.

Likewise, Petersen is reticent to bring up the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, when his Boise State team defeated Oklahoma 43-42 in overtime. This game is going to be electric with big plays left and right! "It is important every game, every day, to us".

Some people out west may not feel that the SEC deserves to have two teams in the College Football Playoff, but the Pac-12 has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it had absolutely no business even sniffing the playoff.
