Thick fog greets Delhi on New Year; flights, trains delayed

In the wake of this, several flights to and from Delhi were canceled or delayed by a few hours, leaving several passengers stranded at the airport. Save for a couple of global flights, all other flights that were heading North were delayed, they said.

At least 24 flights were delayed and over six cancelled. "This is so far the worst fog we have experienced this year", said RK Jenamani, Director, IMD, Delhi area and IGI airport. The visibility came down below 50 metres at the airport.
