The 23 civilians - including nine children - and a firefighter were rushed to hospitals after the 7-alarm blaze, Nigro said. But fire officials say almost two dozen people, including that man and his family, have been displaced by the blaze.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The fire apparently started in a furniture store, Nigro said.

Last Thursday, a fire at a residential building near Bronx Zoo killed 12 people.

The highest resolution on commercial TVs so far is 4K or Ultra HD, which is what TV makers are pushing in their flagship models. Higher resolution is achieved by reducing the size of each pixel and in turn aperture ratio, unavoidably reducing brightness.

Five hours later, the fire crews were still fighting to control the blaze on the Bronx's Commonwealth Avenue. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio called it the worst fire tragedy the city has seen in a quarter century.

An unattended 3-year-old boy playing with a stove caused the fire that claimed the lives of 12 people in the borough's Belmont neighborhood.

All of the residents of the building were believed to have been evacuated. It was not clear when the building would be habitable again.
