On Thursday, the company announced "cooking capabilities" are now part of its Smart Home Skill API. Going forward, those customers will be able to use shorter, simpler voice commands when using Alexa to control their oven, and receive updates on their food as it's cooking. Well, it looks like Amazon is putting efforts to make the Voice Assistant a revolutionary product and service for consumers and besides the company wants to make its Alexa powered Echo devices available for all the rooms in a consumer's house.

According to Amazon, the AI assistant will offer customers a break from, er, "traditional and often confusing microwave experience by enabling them to bark commands at the appliance such as "Alexa, defrost three pounds of chicken" or "Alexa, microwave for 50 seconds on high".

The functions won't work with existing microwaves and ovens, so manufacturers will have to build new smart ovens to support Alexa.
