Other guests expected on Letterman's new six-episode Netflix series will include, George Clooney, Malala Yousafazai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, and Howard Stern.

Netflix announced Friday that Letterman's return to television will begin streaming on January 12 with the 60-minute episode featuring Obama's first talk-show appearance since leaving office.

The first episode of Letterman's new show will be Obama's first televised talk-show interview since leaving the presidency in 2017.

"I had a show for a long time", Letterman said in his new show's trailer. Obama's appearance on the new show marks the former president's first television interview since leaving office a year ago.

Almost 14 million people watched Letterman's final show on CBS in May 2015. Interviews will be supplemented by field segments that aim to quench Letterman's "curiosity and desire to dig deeper on a specific topic related to the iconic guest", according to Netflix.
