Lawyers Say Assange Warrant is Worthless, Court to Decide

  • Slim chance UK will let Assange off the hook as judge to rule on arrest warrant appeal

Assange is waiting for a British judge to drop the arrest warrant for absconding, which should enable him to walk free from the little room he has been in for over five years.

Mr Assange's team argued the United Kingdom warrant should be withdrawn as it "lost its objective and function".

Julian Assange speaks to the media from the balcony of the Embassy Of Ecuador on May 19, 2017 in London.

Assange's lawyer Mark Summers then asked the judge if it would be in public interest to continue pursuing his client for breach of bail conditions.

A Swedish rape probe against him was dropped a year ago, but Assange fears arrest for jumping bail - and extradition to the USA - if he steps outside of the building.

Judge Emma Arbuthnot said she would give her decision on February 13.

After court blow to regime, clashes erupt in Maldives
Current President had been set to run for re-election virtually unopposed, with all of his opponents either jailed or exiled. Shortly after the ruling the police announced on Twitter that it would enforce it.

But senior district judge and chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot has told Westminster Magistrates' Court that she is "not persuaded that the warrant should be withdrawn".

Supporters of Assange said they planned to hold a protest outside the embassy on Tuesday evening.

Swedish authorities past year dropped the charges against him because of the passage of time.

Extradition lawyer Rebecca Niblock, of the law firm Kingsley Napley, said before the ruling that Assange's legal argument was a longshot.

Assange and his lawyers say they fear an arrest could ultimately lead to deportation to the U.S., where he may face a sentence as severe as the death penalty for his activities related to Wikileaks.

Assange fled to the embassy after being accused of sexual assault by two women in Sweden.

Windows 10 now most popular Windows operating system
Microsoft argues that cutting off support for older operating systems will help coordinate updates between Office and Windows. But when the software lands, it will only run on Windows 10 or the next Long-Term Servicing version of Windows Server.

In terms of Tom and Jerry cartoons, Assange is a hungry mouse, and there is a massive piece of cheese (freedom) wafting delicious smells in through the Ecuadorian embassy's window that may or may not be attached to a very large mouse trap (American justice).

"Mr Assange had been released on bail in proceedings", said Mr Watkins.

Mr Assange wrote: "I can confirm that a package containing an unknown white powdery substance and a threat was addressed to my name".

In December, Assange was granted Ecuadorean citizenship after applying for it months earlier.

The British government has already refused a request for Mr Assange to be bestowed diplomatic status granting immunity should he try to leave the building.

My view is that the use of or the threatened use of nuclear weapons in these circumstances simply aren't credible. Washington's new stance on nuclear weapons employment causes concern , Russia's Foreign Ministry noted.
