Russian aircraft crashes after takeoff from Moscow

A Russian plane with 71 people on board crashed in the Moscow region Sunday and prosecutors said there were no survivors.

A Saratov Airlines plane crashed near Moscow on Sunday, killing all 71 people on board the flight, according to multiple news reports.

The plane carried 65 passengers and 6 crew members, Saratov said on its website, expressing condolences to their relatives.

Meanwhile, rescue teams are approaching the crash site on foot as they were unable to get there in their vehicles. "The crew and passengers had no chance", a source was quoted as saying Interfax news agency.

The Russian jet was heading for Orsk, a city close to the Russia-Kazakhstan border. Russia's Emergencies Ministry confirmed the crash and said it was investigating the scene, and that fragments of the plane have been found.

Russia's Investigative Committee said all possible causes were being considered.

Video from the crash site appears to show pieces of wreckage in a snow-covered field.
