Missing mom found dead near home, man charged with murder, deputies say

He has been charged with first-degree murder along with hide or alter of a dead body.

Sampson says 23-year-old Alvin B. Keyser led detectives to the body. The body was discovered around 9 a.m. He said Keyser was not immediately arrested, but contacted authorities Thursday morning. The extent of their relationship is not yet known.

Alvin Keyser, 23, of nearby Topping, was taken into custody and was being questioned about St. John's death, Samson said at a news conference Thursday.

According to police, Keyser said during an interview he had initially confronted St John at her residence regarding statements she allegedly made about him, United States television station WRIC reported.

At some point St. John got into a van that Keyser was driving, but officials didn't clarify whether or not she was physically forced into the vehicle.

St. John's body will be sent to the medical examiner's office in Richmond for an autopsy, and the department is continuing to investigate and interview Keyser.

"Keyser stated to detectives he confronted St. John at her residence about statements that were made about Keyser".

Keyser has been refused bail at Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center and is due to appear in court on March 5. "We know it is all over social media right now and if anybody has any information about this to please call the sheriff's office". Middlesex County investigators says there could be more charges.

The Southside Sentinel reported St. John's boyfriend, Mac Kennard, told the paper the last time he saw St. John was when he kissed her goodbye at 4:20 a.m. that morning before he headed to work.

According to deputies, the persons of interest were cooperating and submitted DNA samples that were submitted into evidence.
