  • The Nun Involved In 3 Year Legal Battle With Katy Perry Has Died Aged 89

A nun died in court Friday during a proceeding related to the legal battle against the Los Angeles Archdiocese and singer Katy Perry.

As she made her way into court earlier in the day, Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 89, issued a final plea to the "Roar" hit-maker: "To Katy Perry, please stop".

The deceased nun, a member of The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, had not lived in the empty facility for several years, after the Catholic Diocese pulled funding for the expensive property.

In December 2017, a judge order Hollister to pay nearly $10 million in compensatory damages to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Katy for attempting to interfere with the proposed sale.

However, that sale was blocked by a judge in 2016, who claimed that the proposed deal was invalid, thereby leaving Katy with the opportunity to purchase the property.

Sister Catherine Rose and Sister Rita Callanan had reportedly seen some of the Katy's provocative music videos and felt uncomfortable about handing her the rights to the former convent and it's eight surrounding acres.

She said: "To Katy Perry, please stop". "It's not doing anyone any good [and it's] hurting a lot of people".

"We asked her (Hollister) to save us, to buy the property". They wanted to sell the property to local businesswoman Dana Hollister who had plans to turn it into a boutique hotel.

Supreme Court restores Hadiya-Shafin Marriage
The Supreme Court of India on Thursday set aside the Kerala High Court's order which annulled Hadiya and Shafin Jahan's marriage. In November 2017, the top court directed Hadiya to resume her internship, and that she was free to meet whomever she wanted.

At the time, Sr Catherine Rose told Eyewitness News, "We have control of our property, it's ours". In November of a year ago, a jury found that Hollister had intentionally interfered with the sale to Perry and a judge ordered her to pay millions to the archdiocese and the singer.

In a statement of the nun's passing obtained by PEOPLE, Archbishop José J. Gomez extended prayers from the Church.

He wrote that Holzman served the church "with dedication and love for many years".

Another of the nun's concerns is with the singer herself.
