According to the agreement, about 16,250 of about 37,000 African migrants, a lot of them from Eritrea and Sudan, would be relocated to Western nations while others would be allowed to stay in Israel.

But in making his case for the agreement with UNHCR on Monday, Mr Netanyahu said Rwanda had backed off from an initial willingness to accept expelled Eritreans and Sudanese. The groups said Israel is capable of absorbing all of the migrants, describing them as "asylum-seekers who came knocking on its door".

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier also rowed back on the PM's earlier statements on Italy's alleged part in the deal, saying it was only "an example".

The UN refugee agency urged the PM to reconsider.

But Israel on Tuesday scrapped the deal with the UNHCR.

Facebook needs a few years to fix problems: Zuckerberg
When Apple's CEO was asked what he would do if he were Zuckerberg, Cook said, " I wouldn't be in this situation ". Last month, the tech entrepreneur took out an ad in the New York Times to apologize to users.

Sami told Radio Capital that the agreement did not mention the countries where the 16,000 migrants should be resettled as the deals are "made directly by us with the countries that are available".

Israel's earlier deportation policy, which offered each migrant $3,500 and a plane ticket, had been condemned by Israeli activists and the United Nations as chaotic, poorly executed, and unsafe.

In return, Israel would grant temporary residency to one migrant for each one resettled elsewhere.

Those released were barred from living or working in seven cities with high migrant populations, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the Red Sea resort of Eilat.

"We continue to believe in the need for an accord advantageous for all that can benefit Israel, the global community and the people who need asylum, and we hope that Israel reconsiders its decision", said a UNHCR spokesperson.

In the past two years I have been working with Rwanda so that it will serve as a third country' that absorbs infiltrators who will be deported without their consent. Rwanda agreed to this and began the deportation operation.

"From the moment in the past few weeks that it became clear that the third country as an option doesn't exist, we basically entered a trap where all of them would remain", he said, according to the Associated Press.

Nationalist allies who dominate Netanyahu's coalition had harshly criticized the deal because it would allow thousands of Africans to remain in Israel. Refugees from risky places will be absorbed in Israel, work migrants will be sent back.

It said there were attempts to damage the fence and infiltrate Israel, while alleging there was also an attempted gun attack against soldiers along the border.

He added that that the government must "proceed to a new roadmap will remove the illegal infiltrators from Israel".
