Apple is working on new touchless controls for its upcoming iPhones

So, for more information, check out Telstra's tablet page here, and be sure to check out Apple's March 2018 iPad keynote. As a result, the Apple rumor mill has been working overtime lately. During the initial testing, these touchless gesture controls would allow iPhone users to complete "some tasks" without having to tap on the screen, the report states.

With the release of the original iPhone in 2007, Apple introduced the Apple fans to touch screens. A curved iPhone may be as little as two to three years away, the person said. The screen would gradually curve inward from top to bottom.

OLED, or organic light emitting diode, displays can be shaped into curves or even folded, unlike the less-flexible LCD screen technology used in prior iPhones.

Both technologies are in their developing phases, however, consumers should expect the features to arrive in the 2020 or 2021 model years.

The work comes as the California-based smartphone pioneer looks to make its gadgets stand out. In an attempt to leave their competitors in the dust, Apple is working on new technology that will make iPhone's absolutely irresistible.

To stay ahead, Apple needs compelling new features and designs. Google's ATAP research group has been working this sort of technology, too, through its Project Soli program. The touchless gesture control is something that's been implemented in Samsung phones already but Apple's design seems to work on a different principle entirely.

Apple has been working on their ARM-based processors now available inside iOS devices, the Apple Watch, and the Apple TV. This is pretty different from Samsung's Air Gesture feature that debuted on the Galaxy S4 a few years ago, where Samsung embedded a motion sensor to detect gestures from a particular distance. However, Bloomberg reports that the OLED display on the iPhone X will be extended to a larger 6.5-inch iPhone model, which will likely be announced this year.
