WTF MSM!? Comey, Comey, and more Comey

  • Comey delivers the keynote remarks at the Intelligence and National Security Alliance Leadership Dinner

During an ABC interview published today, former FBI director James Comey staunchly defended his decision to announce, just 11 days before the 2016 USA presidential election, that the FBI was reopening its investigation of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email account while she was U.S. secretary of state.

James Comey has called Donald Trump "unethical" and "morally unfit to be president".

Comey held a televised press briefing in July 2016 to announce the Department of Justice was not recommending charges against Clinton, and generated more controversy when he sent a letter to Capitol Hill saying the Federal Bureau of Investigation was reviewing more of her emails - a move Clinton and her allies say helped swing the election to Trump.

In his new book, A Higher Loyalty, Comey describes Trump as unfit for the nation's highest office, but stops short of concluding there's a strong case against the president for obstructing justice.

Protesters clash with police in Armenia in anti-government protests
Armenians voted for a more accountable political system, but the ex-president's job switch is evoking the specter of one-man rule. Activists opposed to Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister have been marching through Vanadzor, Armenia's third largest city.

The wide-ranging interview with ABC News also came ahead of Tuesday's release of Comey's memoir, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership", in which he details his interactions with the Republican president. Trump calls the former FBI director an "untruthful slime ball", "a proven LEAKER & LIAR" and "the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!"

A New York Times column published in October 2017, "Is Nothing Funny, Mr. President?" discussed this, warning: "For the first time in recent memory, we have a commander in chief without a sense of humor - and America is paying the price".

Meanwhile, Trump's reax to the FBI's raid on the office, home and hotel room of his personal attorney Michael Cohen - an "attack on our country", he tweeted - is equally disturbing and risky, Comey told Stephanopoulos.

One could say Trump did his part to sell Comey's book on Monday by resuming his Twitter tirade without answering crucial questions or accounting for his own previous pro-Comey statements. Comey seems likely to be the star witness in any obstruction of justice case that might be brought against the President by Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel in the sprawling Russian Federation investigation. This may not reduce Comey's value as a witness against Trump in court, but then the likelihood is that the president will never be tried in court - at least not while he is in office. And Comey has said that Rosenstein acted "dishonorably" by allegedly helping advance a pretext for Comey's dismissal previous year.

Alan Dershowitz Chides Sean Hannity to His Face Over Michael Cohen Connection
But the bridge to Trump's past represented by the FBI's swoop against Cohen could test the President's Teflon hide. Carlson commented on the controversy ahead of Hannity's show, discussing Cohen's appearance in court on Monday.

"Jim Comey loves to be in the center of power", Conway suggested.

"The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him", he said.

"I think he has a right to defend himself", California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell said. It offers Comey's version of the investigation on Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State.

In March, the Trump administration expelled 60 Russian diplomats and suspected spies from the United States after Britain accused Russia of attacking a former spy, living in Britain, with a military-grade nerve agent.

Philadelphia 76ers: 3 takeaways from Game 1 vs. Heat
Veteran Amir Johnson will likely start in place of the injured Embiid in Game 1 of the Sixers' first-round playoff series. Oh wait, the Sixers actually DID blow out the Miami Heat? 42 games worth, where he's also started in 24 playoff games.

"I'm not trying to make fun of President Trump", he insisted. After facing widespread backlash at the time, Trump apologized for comments he made on the recording - in which he bragged about sexually assaulting women and "grabbing them by the p-y" - but went on to repeatedly dismiss them as "locker room talk". "And so I choose to see the opportunity in a forest fire because what forest fires do is allow things to grow that never could've grown". It's going to damage the president in other people's view.
