  • White House Doctor Withdraws Name to be Next Veterans Chief

Minutes after the news broke that Jackson was withdrawing his nomination for the top-level position, Trump bashed his accusers and denied that Jackson ever received anything less than glowing reports from his colleagues.

U.S. President Donald Trump's physician Ronny Jackson, nominated to head the Veterans Affairs Department, met with White House officials on Wednesday night following a new round of allegations about questionable drug prescriptions and on-the-job drunkenness, a source familiar with the situation told Reuters.

"Unfortunately, because of how Washington works, these false allegations have become a distraction for this President and the important issue we must be addressing - how we give the best care to our nation's heroes", Jackson said in the statement.

While early critics of Jackson's nomination targeted his lack of experience in politics, Trump argued that even the highest amount of political experience is "peanuts" compared to the challenge of leading the VA.

"He would have done a great job, a tremendous heart", Trump said in a "Fox & Friends" interview.

Jackson faced a series of accusations about his workplace conduct. John Tester (D-MT) said in a statement Thursday.

Despite an unblemished record serving three presidents, Jackson has been dogged by accusations of being drunk on the job and over-prescribing medications.

An administration official suggested the complaints may be fallout from Jackson's rivalry with another doctor in the White House medical unit dating to 2012.

They declined to comment on the situation.

Finding A Decent Trade Involving Hassan Whiteside Is Nearly Impossible
"You're going to make me emotional if we start to think about that or talk about that right now", Spoelstra said. It wasn't quite as impressive as his 28-point effort in Game 2, but he still looked a lot like the old Wade .

Rear Adm. Ronny L. Jackson leaves a Senate meeting.

Mr. Short pushed back against assertions that Dr. Jackson had casually doled out prescription drugs. The ex-colleague spoke on condition of anonymity because of fear of retaliation.

Trump places the blame on Montana Democratic Sen.

Colleagues and former colleagues told Democratic staffers that there were multiple incidents of drunkenness on duty, including one where he got drunk at a Secret Service going-away party and wrecked a government vehicle.

"I don't mean to be too harsh, but you can't just go around acting like a big shot, and you can't go around seeing how close you can come to the line, and you can't go around disrespecting taxpayer dollars", Kennedy said Tuesday.

"I have no idea where that is coming from". Many state medical boards allow doctors to keep their licenses and return to practice if they complete special treatment programs and submit to random urine screens.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said the allegations warranted further review.

"He treated the people above him very, very well".

Ms Sanders said on Wednesday Dr Jackson had passed "at least four independent background checks" that found "no areas of concern".

Jackson has worked in the White House since 2006.

He was "not familiar" with the auto crash episode.

However, it was postponed because senators from both parties said they wanted to examine allegations by 23 of his colleagues and former colleagues.

The allegations in the committee summary have not been independently verified.

"Jon Tester - I think this is going to cause him a lot of problems in his state", he said.

"Jon's focus from the beginning is making sure we have strong leadership at the top of the VA so our veterans are taken care of".

"The staff characterized the working environment as being caught between parents going through a bitter divorce with one parent undermining and talking bad about the other", according to a report of the findings.

Johnny Isakson, said he respected Jackson's decision and "will work with the administration to see to it we get a VA secretary for our veterans and their families".
