  • Narendra Modi launches five-day election campaign in Karnataka attacks Congress'politics of dynasty

Speaking at a rally in Bengaluru, Modi said the Congress was a "gold medallist" in corruption and the JD (S) had struck a pact with fundamentalist communal outfits posing a threat to national security, thus making BJP the only option to provide a "development-oriented government". However, he revealed that he wanted to resign from Lok Sabha after BJP came to power in 2014, "but Modi persuaded me against doing so".

The Prime Minister also called the Congress anti-Dalit, anti-Muslim, anti-OBC and anti-women, and said the BJP has done more for these communities despite being tagged a "Bania and Brahmin" party.

The Congress-led government has delivered all its promises made before the last Assembly election in 2013, Gandhi said.

Gandhi, addressing a "Jana Aashirwada Yatre" here, was referring to Modi's remarks of May 1 challenging the former to talk about the Congress government's achievements in Karnataka without a paper in hand.

The 'Special Category Status' Ruckus between YSCP and TDP
But he gave only Rs 1,500 crores to Amaravati while Rs 2,500 crore is given to build a statue of Sardar Patel statue in Gujarat. On March 16, the ruling TDP reached a deadlock with BJP over this issue and ultimately quit the NDA coalition.

He also said the Karnataka government, however, pre-empted the CBI manufactured clean chit to the Reddy brothers and BS Yeddyurappa by refusing to accept the closure by the agency. About a dozen of our soldiers sacrificed their lives in these attacks but the government has not revealed it,"he said".

Taking the fight straight to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi alleged that the PM "resorts to personal attacks and character assassination".

"Are you not trying to induct the Reddy brothers into the Assembly?" He said: "You ask any political pundit".

He said, "Look at the rising illegal mining in the state".

Louis Tomlinson proud to share name with Prince Louis
A zoo spokeswoman said the camel was simply Louis , though some were already calling the camel " Prince Louis ". Linda Robson also joked on Friday's Loose Women that the royals had asked her permission to copy her baby name.

Mr Modi stating that Karnataka was synonymous with valour, but regretted the manner in which its fearless heroes, Field Marshall K M Cariappa and General K Thimayya were insulted'.

So why is Gowda suddenly important and how did he respond to PM Modi's comments? "That's the difference between his governance and ours", Rahul said. "This is shocking. This could have been used for desilting of Tungabhadra Dam for the benefit of the district's farmers", he said.

The moot question is whether voters continue viewing elections as a "referendum" of sorts on Mr Modi and his claims/promises or if they are willing to return to the era of "non-national" polls.

"The army won the battle against Pakistan in 1948 under the leadership of General Thimayya, but the man who saved Kashmir had to resign because of insult and to protect his self-respect".
