Four killed in Srinagar gunfight, clashes

Security forces on Saturday killed one militant in an ongoing gunfight even as a civilian died in clashes between protesters and law enforcement agencies near the encounter site in Srinagar's densely populated Chatabal area on Saturday, police said.

Security forces including police and CRPF surrounded the Chattabal area following a tip-off about the presence of two militants in a hideout. One CRPF jawan was also hurt in the exchange of fire.

Police also said a militant was killed in the encounter.

The civilian, whose name is Adil Ahmed, injured at the site of clashes was affirmed brought dead at Srinagar's Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) hospital.
