Gay Man Says Pope Told Him: 'God Made You Like This'

  • Pope Paul VI circa 1963

A gay man over the weekend said that Pope Francis told him that God made him the way he was - and said that his sexuality "does not matter" in God's eyes.

Martin told the paper that the pope made the reported comment in private and not on the record, which is a big difference.

"He told me, 'Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter".

Mr. Cruz also told the pope of his "most wonderful friends, who are also Catholic and who struggle with this".

The Pope Told A Gay Man That 'God Loves You Like This,' Making Him The Most Accepting Catholic Leader To Date

Apologising to the victims, the pope and to Chile for the failings of Chile's churchmen, Ramos said the bishops would all stay in their roles until Francis had decided what to do.

Since his election in 2013, the pope has dramatically shifted the language the Church has used about homosexuality, which was once seen as a taboo subject.

"If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?" the pope said.

"The Church is feminine", Pope Francis said in his homily on Monday, "she is a mother".

Israel hits Hamas base but Gaza protests fade
It says those approaching the fence have used explosive devices and firebombs, while soldiers have been shot at. The clash was the bloodiest day in Gaza since 2014.

"When a person arrives before Jesus, Jesus certainly will not say: "Go away because you are homosexual", he said.

This is not the first time the Pope has made headlines for remarks about the gay community, although it's his most supportive comment to date.

WASHINGTON (CNS) - The Catholic Church doesn't often add new celebrations to its pretty full liturgical calendar, but this year's new feast day, Mary, Mother of the Church on May 21, has Catholics marking the day or at least thinking a little more about Mary.

The proposal is likely to be discussed at a 2019 meeting of the world's bishops to discuss the Amazon region, where the church counts around one priest for every 10,000 Catholics.

Suicidal Thoughts, Attempts On The Rise Among Young People: 'It's A Critical Public-Health Crisis Right Now'
The outcomes suggest that the rate of suicidal attempts increased in the fall and spring, and lowest in the summer. The researchers called for more studies of possible gender differences in youth mental health.

But Pope Francis reportedly made it clear that Juan Carlos's sexuality is not an issue, in his or God's eyes. "That's awesome what he said to a gay man". Rather than address the problems around sexual abuse within their churches, they hid it. Homophobia trumped logic and ruined the lives of thousands because of views of masculinity, and gay priests doing in the dark what they were being denied in the light.

Fernando Karadima, the disgraced priest who abused Cruz, was found guilty of abuse by the Vatican back in 2011.

"We are called to love each other", One parishioner said.

Chilean bishops at the heart of the sex abuse scandal threatened to resign en masse last week after being summoned to Rome to explain their part in a crisis that has rocked the predominantly Catholic country.

Murphy Brown has a new gig
The final new shows that made the cut for the fall lineup are dramas Federal Bureau of Investigation and God Friended Me . Jay Hernandez ( Suicide Squad ) steps into the role of Thomas Magnum , which was played by Tom Selleck in the original.

Mr Cruz spoke of his happiness after receiving a personal apology from Pope Francis for the abuse that he suffered.
