The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Alberto was centered at 5 p.m. EDT Sunday afternoon about 165 miles (265 kilometers) west of Tampa and had top sustained winds of 50 mph (85 kph).

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for parts of Florida as the center of Subtropical Storm Alberto will likely reach the northern Gulf Coast Monday afternoon or evening.

Alberto had 45 miles per hour winds when it came ashore on Laguna Beach in the Florida Panhandle on Monday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Subtropical Storm Alberto is making landfall near Laguna Beach.

There was no significant damage or injury related to Alberto in Bay County, and only a few power outages, said Valerie Sale of the Office of Emergency Management. They will develop northwest of the Tennessee Valley late Thursday into early Friday and move southeast as a large "complex" of storms. She said, "strong squalls off and on" had kept her inside.

A Tropical Storm Warming is in effect for the northern Gulf Coast from the Suwannee River to the Mississippi-Alabama border.

The Houston Rockets are averaging 105.8 points on 43.8 percent shooting and allowing 103.3 points on 46.4 percent shooting. Now they go back to Houston where the role players are more consistent and the whistle tends to favor the otherside.

Rick Scott issued an emergency warning early yesterday advising his fellow Floridians to prepare for torrential rain and severe flooding, reminding residents that the storm's track can change without notice.

The governors of Florida, Mississippi and Alabama have declared states of emergencies ahead of the subtropical storm hitting land.

Flooding remains the greatest concern and in Mississippi, Gov. Phil Bryant activated the National Guard.

Florida, Alabama and MS declare states of emergency; Jonathan Serrie reports from Florida. Mudslides are also possible in Cuba, the NHC said.

Subtropical Storm Alberto weakened slightly as it neared Florida's Panhandle, where it should come ashore Monday to spread heavy rains across the southern US, potentially causing more than $1 billion in economic losses. We could see 2-3 inches of rain on average.

Heavy rains were expected across Florida and in parts of Alabama and Georgia.

Washington still sending planning team to Singapore: White House
Moon will announce the result of his meeting with Kim on Sunday morning local time, the South Korean statement said. Trump cited "open hostility" from the North as his reason for backing out.

Alberto's high winds also led to concerns over the threat of storm surge and risky rip currents from the coasts of Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean. Warnings about storm surges and high surf were aired along the coast on either side of Apalachicola on Monday.

Florida, Alabama and MS launched emergency preparations on Saturday. A subtropical storm means the center of circulation is exposed and the rain and thunderstorms are pushed away from the center.

In addition to parts of the southeastern USA, the heavy rains and storm conditions could produce "life-threatening flash floods and mudslides" in Cuba, the NHC said.

Hurricane season in the Atlantic basin officially begins on June 1.

Winds will remain gusty for the rest of the holiday weekend, but tropical-storm force winds will stay well to our west.
