The 76ers organization stated they would be investigating the matter, but there wasn't much more they could find since The Ringer had done all the work.

Sources have said that Colangelo would benefit from resigning as soon as possible, so he doesn't risk further damage to his reputation.

The probe hasn't been completed, and a final decision has yet to be rendered, but the fallout from a report by The Ringer that connected Twitter accounts unleashing privileged information and provocative attacks surrounding the Sixers has left ownership flushed with embarrassment and anger - and Colangelo fighting for his professional life, league sources said.

ESPN reported that Colangelo has had discussions with the team's ownership group and upper management about the possibility that his wife, Barbara Bottini, could have been involved in posting from the anonymous Twitter accounts.

Trump tariffs on EU, Mexico, Canada draw retaliation threats
The retaliatory tariffs they've promised make no more sense in narrow economic terms than the US tariffs they're objecting to. He said: "We chose also some symbolic products like Harley-Davidson to make clear here is a red card".

"The only way that he'll get out of it is if he comes with evidence that somebody set him up", a league executive, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Inquirer.

League sources don't think Colangelo will keep his job even if it's proven that Bottini or another family was behind the burner accounts. The accounts at times criticized National Basketball Association players that included Sixers, debated coaching decisions by his own staff, critiqued front office moves of Sam Hinkie and Toronto successor Masai Ujiri, telegraphed the Markelle Fultz trade and disclosed non-public information on players to members of the media (see story).

On Thursday, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver responded to the controversy at a news conference. "And the first thing we have to do here is determine what the actual facts are in this circumstance".

"I talked to [Colangelo], and he said that he didn't say that", Embiid told ESPN.

Liverpool have already moved quickly this window with the announcement of the signing of Monaco midfielder Fabinho . A football club of this size coming after my services? Hopefully, on a personal level, I'm able to win titles.

"So, of course, from the league standpoint, here we are, Game 1 of The Finals, it's not necessarily something we want to be talking about, but it's the reality of this league", Silver added.

Embiid, the 24-year-old All-Star center, tweeted that he didn't believe the report. "That would just be insane".

Prominent longtime National Basketball Association executive, Sixers adviser, man who hired Bryan Colangelo, his son, to be the Sixers' president.

Colangelo denied knowledge of four of the five accounts, saying he did use one to monitor news and updates throughout the industry.
