  • Woman is dragged into a Florida lake by an alligator while out walking her dogs

The Law Enforcement Division of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Saturday that the body of Shizuka Matsuki was located Friday evening around 10 p.m.at the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park lake in Davie, Florida. Witnesses have spotted an alligator in the water and one of the woman's dogs had fresh wounds. "Human remains" were retrieved from the animal, according to a Friday report from the Miami Herald, who cited authorities. The witness told police the woman was gone the next time she looked, but the dogs were still there, the TV station said.

A witness told police he saw a woman walking two dogs and then noticed the dogs were barking near the water, but without her, Davie Police Detective Viviana Gallinal said later in the morning.

A 12-foot, 6-inch alligator was later removed from the lake by a trapper hired by the FWC. Dressed in gym attire, the petite and friendly woman often let her pets swim in a canal on the southwestern end of the neighborhood, letting the dogs off their leash as they frolicked in the water with tongues hanging out.

The body of a missing Florida woman, who is believed to have died after she was bitten by an alligator, has been found, authorities said. A short time later, he said, he saw the dogs wandering alone.

Florida wildlife officials have logged 401 "unprovoked bite incidents" from 1948 to 2017, according to a fact sheet published in 2017. The horrifying event happened at the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park, west of Florida's Turnpike, off Southwest 52nd Street, ABC 10 reported. Tina Gonzales, who lives in Davie, said she visited the park previous year and a large gator swam up to where she and her son were fishing.

Alligators and humans have crossed paths more and more in Florida, as people increasingly seek waterfront homes and recreation - but deadly attacks remain rare.

How to get help for someone who might be suicidal
Keltz admits the warning signs of someone thinking about committing suicide aren't always easy to see, varying person by person. Suicide is very often an impulsive act, and a person who contemplates it can readily survive if no lethal weapon is at hand.

While alligator attacks are uncommon, they are not unheard of.

Alligators are found in all 67 of Florida's counties, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said. They think a gator took her under the woman when she was walking her dogs.
