Two of Europe's less-heralded sides will duel for a seat at football's top table when Croatia take on Denmark in the Nizhny Novogrod stadium on Sunday with a place at the last 8 of the World Cup on the line.

Croatia were stunned inside 60 seconds by an early Danish aerial assault as Jonas Knudsen's whipped throw-in reached Thomas Delaney, who simply screened the ball and left it to Mathias Jorgensen to poke it home. Henrik Dalsgaard's clearance hit a teammate and fell for Croatia forward Mario Mandzukic to hook the ball in.
