Liverpool are confident of completing a £12m deal for Xherdan Shaqiri before leaving for their US Tour. It is believed that Shaqiri has a release clause in the neighbourhood of £13 million.

Liverpool have already strengthened their squad this summer with the £39m signing of Monaco midfielder Fabinho and the arrival of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

Shaqiri's involvement at the World Cup ended last week when Switzerland were knocked out of the tournament by Sweden.

Shaqiri joined Stoke from Bayern Munich in 2015 and has two years remaining on his deal but the Championship side are resigned to him moving this summer and they want the business wrapped up quickly. He admitted that he would like to leave following last season's relegation.

Liverpool may be able to sweeten any deal by offering a player on loan.
