CBS CEO Les Moonves faces sexual misconduct allegations

In a statement to the New Yorker, CBS said that while it is "mindful of all workplace issues and takes each report of misconduct very seriously", it does not agree with Farrow's depiction of the network's company culture. Farrow told ABC News that his latest piece is "about six women who did an incredibly fearless thing: overcoming tremendous fear of retaliation to speak about their experiences with Moonves". Farrow wrote that four women alleged forcible touching or kissing and two alleged sexual misconduct or harassment.
'What happened to me was a sexual assault, and then I was sacked for not participating, ' Douglas told writer Ronan Farrow.
Douglas says that she eventually extricated herself from the situation, but that Moonves physically intimidated her as she left his office, telling her to keep quiet.
"I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances". Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely.
"But I always understood and respected - and abided by the principle - that "no" means "no" and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone's career".
Shares in CBS tumbled when the reports of the misconduct allegations began to circulate around noon Friday, as investors anxious that Moonves might be forced to step down.
CBS in a statement said no misconduct claims have been made against Moonves during his tenure at the company.
The claims against Moonves involve incidents that go back, in part, more than 20 years, the Hollywood Reporter said earlier on Friday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter and the New Yorker magazine story who it did not identify.
A spokesperson for Moonves declined comment. Television, where he oversaw the development of hit TV shows "Friends" and "ER".
He has launched primetime CBS hits such as "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Survivor", and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation".
Moonves, who is also a former actor, has surrounded himself with women at the top echelons of his company. He was appointed chairman and CEO in 2003. Only Ross remains with the company. He earned $69.3 million in 2017, according to Variety.
