Sen. Paul met with several Russian senators during his trip to Russia on Monday, as well as Sergey Kislyak, Russia's former envoy to Washington. It's unclear when those Russian lawmakers plan to visit the U.S. Capitol. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, on a trip that The Washington Post described as "a bid to increase engagement with the country".

"My goal in coming to Russian Federation is to say that we want to have open lines of communication", Paul said at a press conference after the meeting.
