Johnson resigned as foreign secretary over the Chequers plan, named after May's country residence where the government agreed proposals to maintain close trade ties with the European Union in July, and has attacked it as making Britain "a vassal state".

Boris Johnson is at the centre of another row within the Conservative party after comparing the prime minister's Brexit plan to a suicide vest.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt wrote in the same paper that the country should back May and her plan.

"Comparing the PM to that isn't amusing", he said, taking on Johnson on Twitter.

The prime minister's official spokesman said he would not be drawn into responding to the former foreign secretary's contention that Theresa May had wrapped "a suicide vest" around the British constitution in the early stages of the Brexit talks.

Alistair Burt MP added: 'There is no justification for such an outrageous, inappropriate and hurtful analogy'.

COO Joseph Ianniello was announced as president and acting CEO "while the Board conducts a search for a permanent successor". To CBS , she said , invoking Rosh Hashanah, "in the spirit of the new year, let's make this the beginning of a new era".

Writing in the Mail yesterday, Johnson said the government's strategy put the country in a "suicide vest" with Brussels holding the detonator.

"I think that something I admire about Boris Johnson, and something that gives him huge swathes of support across the country, is the fact that Boris calls it as he sees it and people find that refreshing", he said.

He also said that Mrs May will chair a cabinet meeting on Thursday that will consider the implications of a no deal Brexit.

Mr Tugendhat replied: "That's exactly my view and that is why I say I have made my view very clear".

Speculation is rife that Mr Johnson is weighing up a move to displace Theresa May, despite his latest Brexit intervention prompting a furious backlash from senior Tories.

"We look like a seven stone weakling being comically bent out of shape by a 500lb gorilla", Johnson wrote.

And Tory Brexiteer Andrew Bridgen said the way Mr Johnson "says it how he sees it and speaks truth unto power" was "something that endears him to a huge swathe of the British public".

But backbench Tory MP Nadine Dorries defended Mr Johnson in the face of what she was "vitriol", saying his critics were "terrified of his popular appeal".

"Under the Chequers proposal we are set to agree to accept their rules - forever - with no say on the making of those rules".

We do need to step up our investments in the police and schools and other vital public services.

Last week, Mr Johnson and his wife Marina Wheeler announced they were divorcing after 25 years of marriage - a move some saw as an attempt to neutralize potential stories about his private life before a leadership campaign.

Some of the lurid details were said to have come from a dossier compiled by May's office in 2016 when she was competing with Johnson for the Conservative leadership. "Personally I hope that won't happen".

Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley told reporters at the press conference that the suspect was "actively shooting innocent victims". Workers quickly fled the building and hid in bathrooms and closets when they heard a hail of gunfire and smelled gun power.

The announcement followed newspaper allegations the former London mayor had been having an extra-marital affair.
