Williams' behaviour divided the tennis world after she called the chair umpire a "liar" and a "thief" and said he treated her differently than male players during her loss to Naomi Osaka of Japan.

And Ramos has defended his actions by insisting that he can not ignore certain rules during matches.

The Herald Sun, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp nws , provoked outrage Tuesday with a cartoon of Williams at the U.S. Open because it portrayed Williams in a style that evoked the 19th-century 'sambo' style of depicting African Americans.

The first Japanese player to win a grand slam admitted she was "a little bit sad" her US Open triumph ended in boos after Serena was embroiled in a controversial row with the umpire. He accepted the charge later but added that he didn't think Williams looked at her. On Monday, the Women's Tennis Association came out in support of Williams, with chief executive Steve Simon suggesting the umpire showed a different level of tolerance to Williams because she is a woman.

There were fewer issued to women - 43. The ITF said that Ramos had been "in accordance with the relevant rules " and "acted at all times with professionalism and integrity".

Ariana Grande tried to help Mac Miller get sober
Whether he was an addict or not, Shane explained, she was more than willing to go to hell and back to defend him. "I saw that. There's a ton of people that were always involved in trying to help Mac get better. "She was a f***ing G to him".

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Monday defended Ramos, backing the umpire for the way he handled the situation in hard circumstances.

Serena Williams embraces Naomi Osaka as she cries at the presentations.

Ramos, however, has spoken out about the incident for the first time in an interview with Tribuna Expresso in his native country, as the Spaniard cited he was content with the decisions he made as he does not pick and choose when to apply the rule book. You are the U.S. Open champion.

Williams took exception to Ramos and accused him of being a "thief" and insisted he will never officiate one of her matches again "as long as she is on a court". "The fact that I have to go through this is just an example for the next person that has emotions and wants to express themselves and wants to be strong woman".

The second and third violations earned Williams a point penalty and then a game penalty, giving Osaka a 5-3 second set lead that effectively gifted her the title.

Ramos backed by ITF over 'regrettable' Serena rant
Well Julie here's a cartoon I drew a few days before when Australian male tennis player Kyrgios at the US Open was behaving badly. During a break, Williams was still waiting for Ramos to acknowledge that she had not cheated: "You're attacking my character".

Umpire Christian Rask was also criticised after he gave Frenchwoman Alize Cornet a code violation for removing her shirt on court after she realised she had put it on back-to-front in the locker room during a mid-match heat break.

Widmaier said the feeling at USTA is that there needs to be a push to ensure consistency in the application of the rules, including coaching violations and shirt changes by women players.

"We do not believe that this was done (Saturday)".

However, these calculations don't take into account whether umpires are more likely to punish female players than men for a similar outburst during a match.

This year's spectacle - tickets start at just over $100 and go up to more than $800 per seat - also has a strong economic theme. Unification is the only way Koreans can survive", read a Sunday editorial in communist-party newspaper Rodong Sinmun.
