  • Josh Gordon's very strange 6 years with the Cleveland Browns have gone up in smoke... the team just decided to release him

Shortly after the Browns released the statement, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported, citing sources, that Cleveland already has received some calls about trading Gordon and they might deal him before Monday.

The Browns announced they will release wideout Josh Gordon.

UNC, NC State cancel football games due to Hurricane Florence
The winds cover an area more than 53,000 square miles - which is larger than the entire state of North Carolina. While it may or may not officially become a Category 5 storm, it will still be a major Hurricane at landfall.

So while an 0-16 no longer wants Gordon after putting up with his troubles for six years, there's a handful of other teams that will happily accept his talent. "Unfortunately, we've reached a point where we feel it's best to part ways and move forward". Team doctors evaluated Gordon's injury Saturday and were concerned that he was battling substance abuse issues, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports. "We wish Josh well".

The stunning news came just hours after the Browns said Gordon would miss Sunday's game in New Orleans with a hamstring injury.

EDT (1900 GMT) but already some 19,000 homes and businesses in the Carolinas and Virginia were without power by mid-afternoon. Olivia is the first tropical cyclone to make landfall on Maui in modern history, National Weather Service forecasters said .

Gordon had just rejoined the team on August 18. Gordon reportedly was late to the team's facility Saturday and showed up with an injured hamstring after being fine all week.

After a substantial amount of time away from the team during the preseason, Gordon returned in time to play against the Steelers last week, hauling in a touchdown grab in the 21-21 tie. He led the league with 1,646 receiving yards on 87 receptions in 2013, his second year as a pro, but then played just 10 games over the next four seasons while serving multiple suspensions resulting from violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy.
